2021 MHYF Memorial Scholarship Application

To complete your MHYF Memorial Scholarship application you will need to click on the link below and download it to your computer.  After you have completed the application be sure to save it and then email it to the MHYF Director of Scholarships.

The MHYF Memorial Scholarship will be open to all MHBA youth members who are graduating High School Seniors.  Award amount ($) and number of recipients will be based on the number of qualified applicants and available funds each year.  

Application Deadline and Selection Process

The 2021 MHYF Scholarship applications must be received by the Director of Scholarships by December 1, 2020.  The original application plus 5 complete copies must be sent by general delivery to the address provided on the requirements page of the scholarship application.  Postmarks on 12-1-2020 will be accepted as meeting the deadline.  New for the 2021 Scholarship applications, you may email your completed application directly to the MHYF Scholarship Director. No late applications will be accepted. 

The MHYF Scholarship Committee will meet and conduct interviews for qualified applicants attending the National Western Stock Show (the Nebraskan in Grand Island, NE for 2021).  Those qualified applicants unable to attend the event will be contacted by telephone or Zoom for interviews.  The interview process will be completed prior to announcing the scholarship recipients at the Annual Banquet of the MHBA following the Miniature Hereford World show.  You do not need to be present to receive an award. 

Interviews will be held at the 2021 Miniature Hereford World Show held in Grand Island, NE.

Applicant Qualifications

The student, the students' parents, grandparents, or guardians must be current paid members of the MHBA in good standing (MHBA rule is, Member in good standing is 3 years continuous membership without lapse) and remain a paid member of the MHBA either through a Junior or Family membership throughout the school year in which the Scholarship is awarded.

The student must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a two or four-year college, university or vocational school in the academic year 2021-2022.

The student must have a high school cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least a 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale), or equivalent.

The student must plan to be continually enrolled as a full-time student at their highter education school of choice.


Announcement

The MHYF Scholarship Committee is excited to announce that there will be a minimum of eight (8) $500 scholarships awarded for the 2021 Calendar year. This amazing opportunity was made possible by the donation of a bull and heifer from Bob & Joan Massengale of Iti Biti Acres in Howard, Colorado.  The bull and heifer were raffled off this summer.  

Miniature Hereford Youth Foundation Mission:

The Miniature Hereford Youth Foundation, Inc. was established to promote youth involvement in the breeding, management, showing, and marketing of Miniature Hereford Cattle through developing leadership skills and educational programs, encouraging personal growth, as well as providing a pathway towards attaining grants to continue to promote Miniature Hereford breeding programs and awarding scholarships.
