WHAT IS A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING?

To be eligible to hold a "Member in Good Standings" status, you must have a Family membership for a minimum of at least three consecutive years without lapse.  If at any time you are delinquent in payment, or allow your MHBA membership to lapse, you will lose your Member in Good Standing status. Those members who desire to hold an office in the Miniature Hereford Breeders Association, Inc. (MHBA) or the Miniature Hereford Youth Foundation (MHYF) must be Members in Good Standings as well as continue to hold that status during their term(s) in office.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ:  Why is it important to make your membership payments on time?

ANSWER:  Your membership is based on a yearly membership fee. When you apply to become of a member of the Miniature Hereford Breeders Association your membership will start on the day that you receive a confirmation letter and your MHBA membership number. The member number that you are assigned is basically a tracking number to determine how long you have been a member of the MHBA.  If you make your membership payments on time for a period of three years or longer, you will have earned the title of "Member In Good Standings" (MGS).

FAQ:  What if I allow my membership to lapse?

ANSWER:  If you let you membership lapse, you will be able to renew as a new member. That means that you will be issued a new member number and if you held a Member In Good Standings level you would lose it.  You will then need to make your membership payments on time for another three year period of time to reinstate a Member In Good Standings level.

FAQ: Why is it important to hold a Member In Good Standings level of membership?

ANSWER:  If you have a desire to hold an office or chair a committee in either MHBA or MHYF in the future, you will need to hold the MGS level of membership so you would need to be working on achieving that level and retaining it once you have it. If you are a member of either the MHBA or MHYF Boards or hold a position as a Chairperson on a committee you are required to hold a Member In Good Standings level of membership throughout your term in office. The MHBA will also provide those members holding the MGS with special recognition of continued membership.

FAQ:  What if I am a Junior member now, when I roll my Junior membership over to a Family Membership, will my Member in Good Standings roll over with me?

ANSWER: Yes, if you do not let your membership lapse, the first two numbers in your membership number will not change and that is how we can tell how long you have been a MHBA member.
