The Ohio Beef Expo is one of the premier expos in the country.  In March of each year, thousands of cattle enthusiasts gather on the grounds of the Ohio Expo Center for a weekend full of all things cattle.

As part of this great event, the Miniature Hereford Breeders Association sponsors a Miniature Hereford open show.   What a great place to showcase our cattle and be an important presence in the cattle industry.

Last year, the Miniature Herefords were the talk of the barn when the Reserve Grand Champion Bull tied for the highest selling bull of all breeds at the 2023 Ohio Beef Expo.

With animals and exhibitors from all over the country, the Miniature Hereford live and online auction at the Ohio Beef Expo is a great place to sell your animals as well as add to your herd.  From live animals to semen and embryo lots, there is something for everyone.

Show and sale entry information can be found here.

Entry deadline is January 15, 2024.

The scholarship division of the MHYF was developed with funds earned from a donation of a Grand Champion Female that was auctioned off at the MHBA Miniature Hereford World Show held in Denver, Colorado at the NWSS.  Since then, we have continued to give back to our youth by helping them pursue their higher education goals.

The Memorial Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors and the Collegiate Scholarship is available for current college students.  The application deadline is December 15, 2023.

For more information and scholarship applications, click here.

The Miniature Hereford Youth Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has been providing scholarships for our youth since 2011.

As you are preparing for the new DNA rules to take effect, the first step is to determine which animals in your herd have been DNA tested and which ones you will need to submit testing on.

Do you want to know if your Miniature Hereford has already been DNA tested and view the results?

To see if a cow has been DNA tested, log on to the American Hereford Association website and go to the Genetics/EPD Search tool. From there, enter the name or registration number of the animal. Click on the animal to go to the Animal Details screen. From there, click on the details tab. If the box next to DNA Case ID is blank, the animal has not been tested.

When an animal is DNA tested, the results are emailed to the owner of the animal. If you would like to see the results of the DNA testing, log in to myherd.org.  Navigate to the Actions tab and then DNA Results. Click on the arrow to the left of the animal's registration number and click on the results button.

Please note that an animal may have more than one DNA test, so be sure to check all test results for the most complete information. If you have questions about DNA testing or results, contact the AHA office.

Youth from all over the country will gather June 17-19, 2024 for the Miniature Hereford Junior Nationals.

This event is so much more than a cattle show with events, educational opportunities and competitions for our youth.  It is a family centered event where parents can join in on some of the activities and where life-long memories are made.

Join us next summer for the MHJN® in Duncan, Oklahoma.

The Miniature Hereford Junior Nationals Committee is already hard at work making plans for next year's event.  You can see the most up to date information on the MJHN website page.
